Estonian tightrope walker Jaan Roose managed to cross the Strait of Messina by walking 3,600 meters on a tightrope just 2 centimeters wide and suspended 200 meters above the ground.
He did it in less than three hours (precisely 2 hours 57' 09") but, unfortunately, he will not enter the Guinness Book of Records due to a single misstep: a fall, due to tiredness at the steepest point, in fact invalidated the record, for which a perfectly clear path served as a regulation.
At the end of the walk, Roose said he was "very happy".
To prepare for the feat, the Estonian athlete - sponsored by Red Bull - prepared for a year. If he had managed to complete a clear path he would have improved his previous record for walking on a slackline by almost a kilometre.
