The Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office has detained the daughter of the 75-year-old woman whose charred body was found yesterday in her home in Gragnano, in the province of Naples. The precautionary measure was issued following questioning of the 75-year-old woman's cohabiting daughter, during which "serious indications of guilt" emerged.

Initial investigations by the Carabinieri revealed that the daughter, likely suffering from mental health problems (which need to be fully ascertained), tried to set fire to her mother's house after cutting the gas pipe, causing a fire that engulfed and killed her mother.

The Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office has charged the woman with voluntary homicide and attempted arson. The 75-year-old's body has been released to judicial authorities, and the seizure of her home has been ordered. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon on Via Vittorio Veneto, in Gragnano. Carabinieri from the local station and the mobile unit of the Castellammare di Stabia company responded to the scene. The firefighters also attended.
