Yes to the conviction for injury and compensation for a father and daughter who, while playing beach tennis on the shore, inadvertently sent a ball flying into a swimmer's eye, causing retinal detachment.

The Court of Cassation has ruled: the incident, which occurred on a beach in Salento, dates back to 2015.

The father and daughter were playing on the beach when the ball went off course, violently hitting a person nearby, at the height of his left eye.

The case ended up in court, with the Justice of the Peace and then the Court of Lecce finding the two defendants liable, imposing a fine of €516 each and a provisional sum of €10,000 for the injured party.

The father and daughter appealed with a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Cassation: the defense, in particular, could not prove a direct link between the blow and the injuries sustained, especially since the swimmer would not have gone to the emergency room until a few days later.

The Supreme Court, however, declared the appeal inadmissible, confirming both the seriousness of the injury and the connection with the accident on the beach .

Therefore, in addition to the fine and provisional payment, the father and daughter will also be fined three thousand euros each and ordered to pay legal costs.
