Hours of anxiety in the Ragusa area following the kidnapping of a 17-year-old boy which occurred yesterday evening in a small square in the Forcone district of Vittoria, in the Ragusa area .

The young man, the son of a well-known local fruit and vegetable trader, was abducted by two unknown masked men who drove up in a car and drove away . Before taking him, the kidnappers reportedly called him by name and told other young men present not to worry, as he was the only target. They also reportedly took the victim's cell phone and left it on the ground, likely to avoid being tracked.

The two spoke Italian. They got into the car with the victim and drove away, escorted by a white Panda.

The young man has not yet been found.

Investigators questioned those present and reviewed surveillance footage from the area , launching a search across a large area of the Ragusa area. The Ragusa Prosecutor's Office, when contacted, declined to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, however, the bishop's appeal arrives: "I appeal to the kidnappers," said Monsignor Giuseppe La Placa, Bishop of Ragusa, "to release the boy. What happened is extremely serious and disturbs and shocks us. We hope that the police, who are working to solve the case, can return this young man to his family."
