Tragedy struck at dawn today in the Mantua area, where two twenty-five-year-olds were killed when they were hit by a Fiat Ducato van while riding a bicycle to work on a local farm . Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for the two young men: they died instantly. There was nothing that could be done for the victims, both Indian nationals. At the time of the accident, they had no identification documents with them, only their employment contracts.
The driver of the van, a 68-year-old man, was injured and transported to Mantua hospital . His injuries are not life-threatening. The vehicle he was traveling in overturned into a ditch after the impact.
The Mantua firefighters, two medical cars, and two ambulances, one from Soccorso Azzurro and one from Croce Verde, responded to the scene. The investigation was carried out by the Carabinieri of Mantua and Sustinente, who also managed traffic and closed the stretch of road to allow for rescue and safety operations.
