A two-and-a-half-year-old girl drowned yesterday in a swimming pool on Via Villagrazia in Palermo. The little girl was with her parents and another family and was spending an evening at a house where there was a raised swimming pool. She dove into the pool. Apparently no one noticed.

The alarm was raised when she was already motionless. Emergency medical services transported her to the hospital, but there was nothing they could do. The Carabinieri are conducting the investigation. The prosecutor's office has ordered the body to be seized for an autopsy.

There were frantic moments when the parents realized the little girl was in the pool and no longer moving. They took the little girl to the emergency medical service at La Guadagna in Palermo, but it was too late. The medical examiner arrived at the Palermo Health Authority facility to examine the body. The Carabinieri interviewed the parents and the other couple present in the home.
