The little boy was with his aunt, who immediately called 911. The ambulance arrived within minutes, but it was still too late to save him: he was found in desperate condition. CPR was unsuccessful, and paramedics attempted to rush him to the hospital.
The ambulance rushed to Maria Vittoria Hospital, where the mother was also admitted for childbirth, but this attempt was also unsuccessful. The police also arrived on the scene and conducted an inspection.
No evidence has emerged to suggest it was a fatality. The Prosecutor's Office may order an autopsy on the child's body in the next few hours.
