The Venice Public Prosecutor's Office has decided to appeal the sentence that sentenced Filippo Turetta, the twenty-three-year-old from Padua responsible for the killing of his ex-girlfriend, Giulia Cecchettin, on November 11, 2023, to life in prison.
At the Court of Appeal, the prosecutors asked to also recognize the aggravating circumstances for Turetta, namely Filippo's cruelty and stalking of Giulia, which the Court of Assizes had instead excluded.
"We are heartened by the fact that the Prosecutor's Office has appealed the sentence," commented lawyer Stefano Tigani, Gino Cecchettin's defense attorney, "because it confirms that the appeal request by our defense team in defense of the Cecchettin family was well-founded."
