Tragic accident this morning in Salerno.

A truck in transit lost part of its load of eco-bales that hit a group of cyclists on the opposite lane: a 49-year-old man died. Another cyclist was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital in Salerno.

It happened in via Fra' Generoso, at the intersection with the road that leads to Castello Arechi.

The rescuers arrived immediately: Firefighters, 118, State Police and Municipal Police. The red helmets also intervened with a crane to lift the load, but unfortunately for one of the cyclists there was nothing that could be done.

The road was closed to traffic in both directions.
