February 26th will see the most widespread strikes : workers in the airline, airport, and related industries across Italy will be walking away on Thursday. Ground and flight crews of the major airlines operating in Italy, such as ITA Airways, easyJet, and Vueling, will be affected for up to 24 hours.

Specifically, Ita Airways and easyJet will strike for the entire day, as called by Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uilt-Uil, Ugl TA, Anpac, and Anp; Vueling, on the other hand, is scheduled to strike for four hours, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, called by Usb Lavoro Privato.

"Following the announcement of strike action involving the Italian air transport sector scheduled for Thursday, February 26, lasting 24 hours, ITA Airways has been forced to cancel approximately 55% of its scheduled flights for February 26 and some flights on February 25 and 27," the ITA website states.

The date of the 26th was chosen following a request from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Matteo Salvini, given that it coincides with the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

The strikes will also affect the rail transport sector. From 9:00 PM on February 27th until the same time on Saturday, February 28th, the train and on-board staff of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane group will strike . Staff of companies operating in the railway sector affiliated with CUB Trasporti/SGB will also be on strike for 24 hours, while the protest called by USB Lavoro Privato will last eight hours (from 10:00 PM on the 27th to 5:59 AM on the 28th).
