A car race may have been the cause of the road accident that occurred last night on Via Cristoforo Colombo, which cost the life of 20-year-old Beatrice Bellucci.

According to initial investigations, one of the cars involved, carrying two young men, was traveling at high speed, possibly challenging another vehicle. The car struck the one carrying the victim, who was sitting in the passenger seat, which then crashed into a tree on the central reservation.

The young woman, seriously injured, was immediately treated but died in the hospital shortly after the accident. Three other young people involved in the collision were hospitalized with critical injuries.

Rome Local Police officers are investigating the accident and will attempt to determine who was responsible and confirm the possibility of a car race.

Beatrice Bellucci had turned twenty in March. Her life was full of a life of support for Roma, a passion for volleyball, and a future as a lawyer. She was studying law, as she also made clear in her Instagram bio, which she used, like many others, to chronicle her days, between the sea of Sardinia, where she had spent her holidays, and the capital.

"Roman Sundays," she wrote months ago under a photo taken at the Olimpico with the yellow and red scarf around her neck . Beatrice had also previously been a member of the Roma Volley women's youth academy, as evidenced by the match results published by the team. The young woman's last social media story dates back to just yesterday, at lunchtime, from Caffè Bulgari in Piazza Augusto Imperatore.
