A scene of unprecedented violence unfolded last night in the center of Muggia. A Ukrainian woman killed her nine-year-old son by slitting his throat in their home.

The mother, separated from the child's father, was under observation by the court and social services. The alarm was raised by the father, who lives outside the region, after being unable to contact the woman.

By the time the Flying Squad officers arrived on the scene, the child was already dead. The incident shocked the entire local community.
