Tragedy at work during the night at the Colosseum , where around midnight a 22-year-old rock climber, assigned to the installation of a new lighting system at high altitude for the monument, fell from a scaffolding from a height of around 10 metres .
Unfortunately, resuscitation attempts by Ares 118 staff were unsuccessful; the young man died. Carabinieri officers from the Central Rome Company and the Investigative Unit, the coroner, the on-duty prosecutor, and personnel from the Labor Inspectorate and the Spresal Local Health Authority responded to the scene.
The victim is Andrea Moretti , and as a sign of mourning, the sector where the accident occurred has been closed for today.
Also on site was Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli : "A tragic event that leaves us shocked and stunned. The few words we can express are dedicated to Andrea, his family, and his loved ones: we extend to everyone our deepest, most sorrowful condolences at the senseless death of a young man dedicated to his work."
