Assaulted and raped on the street in the center of Florence. A 35-year-old Panamanian tourist was rescued in the middle of the night in Piazza San Pancrazio, between houses and a museum. With prompt intervention, police located and arrested two men in the neighborhood on charges of gang rape: a 26-year-old Egyptian man and a 32-year-old Moroccan man, both already known to law enforcement from criminal records.

The woman is now hospitalized at Careggi hospital.

A passerby raised the alarm at 112 Nue around 4:00 a.m., having been alarmed by the screams of a woman coming from behind some parked cars. He then waited for emergency services to arrive. Police cars, already deployed in the area for a patrol, arrived on the scene. Upon seeing the officers, according to what has been reconstructed so far, the two foreigners fled. It was the emergency worker who apparently directed the officers, who then located the suspects nearby. The two were taken to the police station for identification and initial investigation. After being arrested, they were sent to Sollicciano prison to await a validation hearing before the investigating judge of the Florence court.

Meanwhile, an ambulance arrived in Piazza San Pancrazio, transporting the tourist to the hospital not only for treatment but also for the necessary tests to activate the "pink code." Still in shock, according to reports, she reported being attacked by the two unknown men. She had arrived in Florence for a vacation. Investigators from the Flying Squad are working to reconstruct the attack, which occurred in the middle of the night, when the bars and restaurants in the historic center that attract tourists and Florentines were already closed. The attackers likely took advantage of the nearly deserted streets to approach the woman.
