Flooded homes, trapped motorists, roads that turned into torrents, landslides: torrential rains and cloudbursts hit some areas of Campania late yesterday afternoon, especially the provinces of Caserta and Avellino.

The damage was extensive and two people were missing, a 74-year-old woman and her 42-year-old son. The two were on board an Apecar: the three-wheeled vehicle was overwhelmed by a landslide of mud and debris and was found in a ravine. Some homes were evacuated.
