The accusation is that of having stolen approximately 36 thousand euros from a safe during an "illegitimate" search . For this reason , three police officers on duty at the Salario-Parioli police station were arrested by the police of the Flying Squad. According to what was reported by the Rome Prosecutor's Office, the police officers allegedly stole 35,900 euros from a safe during a search of an apartment in the Mostacciano area of Rome. The facts date back to March 27. Also arrested with them was a citizen of Albanian origins.
During the raid – considered illegitimate by investigators – the three officers allegedly entered the house with the excuse of carrying out a house search, showing their State Police badges. Once inside, they allegedly ordered the two owners to stay in the living room, while they took the money kept in a safe in the bedroom. Before leaving, they then used the keys in their possession to close it and then walk away.
"Thanks to the fruitful and timely work of the Flying Squad," declared Rome prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, "we have quickly identified 'unhealthy' members of the police force, suspected of a serious crime. The Prosecutor's Office remains fully confident in the State Police, as demonstrated by the delegation of the investigations to the Flying Squad."
In parallel, another investigation has emerged involving two officers belonging to a different police station in the capital. In this second strand, conducted in collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza, the crimes of drug dealing in competition, embezzlement and refusal or omission of official duties are contested. The police commissioner of Rome, Roberto Massucci, has ordered the precautionary suspension from service for all five officers involved in the two investigations.
