“The killer nurse” was not a killer: two acquittals for Daniela Poggiali
A life sentence and a 30-year sentence have been canceled for the woman, and immediate release is ordered

Double acquittal for Daniela Poggiali, the former nurse accused of the murder of two patients who died in the ward at the Lugo hospital (Ravenna).
The Court of Assizes of Appeal of Bologna in fact acquitted her because the fact does not exist in appeal ter for the death of Rosa Calderoni, 78 who died on April 8, 2014 and also for the case of 94-year-old Massimo Montanari, who died on 12. March 2014 always in Lugo.
In the first case it started from a life sentence, twice reformed by acquittals on appeal, then canceled by as many Cassations. In the second from a sentence of 30 years, in the first degree. In both cases, for the Court, the fact does not exist.
The Court of Assizes of Appeal also ordered the immediate release of Poggiali. The defendant will therefore reach Forlì, where she is in custody, and then once she has taken her things, she will be free again, as happened after the first acquittal, in July 2017, at the time after a thousand days in prison.
In the courtroom there were her sister and brother-in-law, who as soon as the Court read the device approached her. "I'm happy, it could only go like this," he said.
According to the prosecution, who had asked for confirmation of life imprisonment in appeal ter on the case of Rosa Calderoni, the former nurse had killed the 78-year-old with a potassium injection. For the case of Massimo Montanari, 94, Poggiali had been sentenced to thirty years.
Present in the courtroom, Poggiali today made spontaneous statements, denying that he had manipulated the blood sample and that he had killed patients.
