The alleged killer of Antonia Lopez , the 19-year-old killed during an ambush on the night between Saturday and Sunday in the Bahia beach of Molfetta , was stopped in Bari by the Carabinieri. According to the investigations, the target of the hitmen was someone else: the young woman's friend, the 20-year-old scion of the Japigia district clan of the Apulian capital Eugenio Palermiti.

The boy was injured along with three other people. During the ambush, the arrested man allegedly grabbed the gun he had with him and fired seven bullets . One hit Lopez in the shoulder, severing her aorta and killing her in a few minutes due to hemorrhagic shock.

The investigations are coordinated by the Bari DDA.
