Surgeon leaves scissors in patient's abdomen, discovered seven months later

She underwent abdominoplasty surgery but the health workers forgot a pair of scissors in her belly : this is what happened to a 53-year-old woman, born in Casandrino, in the province of Naples, and resident in the province of Piacenza, who reported the incident to the police.
The surgery was performed at a clinic in Naples on October 25, 2025 , but once she returned to her parents' home, after being discharged, she immediately experienced excruciating pain, feeling unwell, and even losing consciousness. Finally, the worried woman decided to call 118, whose doctors immediately advised her to be hospitalized.
She, however, chose to contact the surgeon again, who, however, poured cold water on the matter : he told her that the discomfort could only be post-operative symptoms. He prescribed tests, which revealed an infection, and then a course of antibiotics.
The situation, even with treatment, does not improve and the doctor informed of the matter decides to shed light on the matter by prescribing a CT scan .
A diagnostic test performed on May 7th at a well-known Neapolitan center revealed the presence of a metal object on one side of the abdomen: a pair of surgical scissors.
