The rising high pressure brings sunny weather and milder temperatures to the peninsula, but the major islands remain excluded from what meteorologists are calling "Octobertide," a sort of second summer before the arrival of winter. Scattered showers, sometimes heavy, are forecast for Sardinia and Sicily.

"In the next few hours," explains Lorenzo Tedici , media meteorologist for iLMeteo.it, "we'll have good weather with clear skies, except for a few clouds arriving in the northwest and over the Tyrrhenian Sea. The winds between Puglia and the Ionian regions will gradually ease after days of rough seas and storms, and temperatures will gradually rise to 24-25°C by the weekend."

As mentioned, the situation is different in Sardinia, where a small disturbance will bring strong thunderstorms between Thursday and Friday, also undermining the good weather in Sicily with local showers.
