Violation of the natural habitat, contractual changes, and the ART's failure to issue an opinion on the tariff plan. These are the main reasons for the rejection of the Strait Bridge, as disclosed by the Court of Auditors.
Specifically: violation of Directive 92/43/EC on the conservation of natural and semi-natural habitats, due to the lack of investigation and reasoning in the so-called Iropi resolution; violation of Article 72 of Directive 2014/24/EU, given the substantial, objective and subjective, changes that occurred in the original contractual relationship; failure to obtain the opinion of the Transport Regulatory Authority regarding the tariff plan underlying the economic and financial plan.
"The Central Section for the Control of Legitimacy of the Court of Auditors today filed Resolution No. 19/2025/PREV, disclosing the reasons for which, on October 29, it refused to approve—and subsequently register—CIPESS Resolution No. 41 of August 6, 2025, concerning the "Stable Connection between Sicily and Calabria," according to the Court's statement, which also notes that the same resolution "also formulated observations relating to additional aspects confirmed at the meeting, but deemed not decisive for the purposes of the final assessments."
