A man died at home near Rome when a retaining wall collapsed onto his home . The incident occurred late yesterday evening, around 10:45 PM, in the municipality of Formello, on Via Nazario Sauro. The victim was 58 years old . Firefighters, 118 ambulances, and Carabinieri officers from the Cassia Company were on the scene.

According to reconstructions, a section of the hillside collapsed, likely due to the heavy rains of the last few days, and debris swept away a three-story building . Two other residents were injured and taken to the hospital with yellow code injuries. They are not believed to be in serious condition.

The retaining wall collapsed and fell onto a house below. Firefighters arrived on the scene and freed the man trapped under the debris, but his life could not be saved . The victim was in his ground-floor apartment.
