The Struppa district of Genoa in shock over what happened to a 60-year-old woman of Sardinian origin, stoned by a stranger in a public garden.
After the attack, the 60-year-old was taken to the San Martino hospital with severe head trauma. The general picture, we learn, is improving, but, as mentioned, the episode has aroused great apprehension.
The police managed to stop the attack on a 34-year-old homeless man, Luca Iacobelli, who risks facing charges of attempted murder.
According to the testimonies collected, the man threw a large stone at the woman for no reason, and then attempted to escape.
One of the passers-by also filmed him running away with a cell phone, allowing officers to identify him.
A boy gave first aid to the 60-year-old. "Without his intervention - the woman's son told the local press - my mother would have risked dying".
