Given the picture emerging from the recently concluded investigation into Andrea Sempio for the Garlasco crime , with the new reconstruction that would exonerate Alberto Stasi , "our intention is to expedite the process as much as possible in filing the request for a review" of the trial. This was explained by lawyer Giada Bocellari , who is representing the 42-year-old along with her colleague Antonio De Rensis.

At the moment, Bocellari clarified, "it's not possible to predict a timeline." It won't be very short, nor will it be by the end of the month, because it's necessary to "read and study all the documents and then write the request."

Bocellari said that Stasi only knew about the new investigation what she told him step by step. "Apart from that , he knows nothing; he doesn't read the newspapers," she clarified, explaining that it was her choice not to learn about the new proceedings' progress through the media.

"We'll meet," she continued, "and we'll see, and I'll explain to him all the documents I've managed to acquire so far." Then, in the coming days, "we'll focus our defense on the request, obviously with a view to a review and not the Sempio proceedings, which have nothing to do with it, because they're two parallel tracks."

From what the lawyer has seen so far, "a heavy picture" emerges regarding the new suspect, but "we will have to study and evaluate all the documents; there are nine consultancy reports to look at, for example."

For the defense, therefore, there are many elements of the new investigation that could be useful in requesting a review, which the defense could also support with a request for a suspension of the sentence, i.e., for release, pending the conclusion of the review process.
