A 2-month-old baby died today at the Maggiore hospital in Parma where he had been admitted after being found last Friday in cardiac arrest in his cot, in San Rocco al Porto, in the Lodi area.

It was the mother who alerted the emergency services, as soon as she realized that the little one was sick, as she herself explained. At first the child was hospitalized in Piacenza, then transferred to Parma, always with the parents present.

A file has been opened on the death at the Lodi Prosecutor's Office and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow. "This is an event that has greatly shaken the community," said the mayor of San Rocco Matteo Delfini.

Ryan's parents, as the child was called, come from the Ivory Coast, had been living in the Lodi area for a few years and also have a 5-year-old daughter. The mayor, as soon as he learned of the death, proclaimed a day of mourning for tomorrow.
