She followed the priest of her parish because she was in love with him . And it was of little use that the man, a 55-year-old, changed cities in an attempt to escape her. She reached him and searched insistently. Thus, a 72-year-old parishioner is now on trial for stalking .
The archbishop of Genoa Marco Tasca, other parish priests and even the perpetuals who allegedly witnessed the persecutions suffered by the priest were also called to testify against the woman. The nightmare for the priest began in 2015, when he was in the Basilica of Sant'Antonio in Padua. The woman, a parishioner, confided in him that she was ill and had only four months to live. She convinced him to give her his phone number for spiritual comfort and prayer. From that moment on, the woman began sending him ambiguous messages that the priest rejected, telling her to stop, but without obtaining any results. After blocking her and changing her number, the situation did not change: the woman always recovered the new contact, calling him insistently.
After a year, the priest asked for and obtained a transfer and, from Padua, went to Bologna. But the woman tracked him down and continued with the telephone harassment. Not only that: feeling rejected, she accused him of having raped her and reported him to the prosecutor's office and the ecclesiastical authorities, in addition to publishing the accusations on social media. The priest began to feel bad, so much so that he ended up seeing a psychologist to help him overcome his anxiety.
In the meantime, the judge in Bologna has banned the woman from approaching the priest , while the false accusations have all been dismissed . The priest, in the meantime, has moved to Genoa, to the parish of San Francesco di Albaro, where, on September 21, 2021, the woman showed up and began calling the parish day and night to meet the priest. Now, the woman is on trial.
