Moussa Sangare, the 31-year-old man in prison accused of stabbing 33-year-old Sharon Verzeni to death on the night between July 29 and 30, 2024, in Terno d'Isola, was heard in court in Bergamo and, unlike his previous confession, denied all charges .

"I was cycling by," he said, "and I saw Sharon arguing with a man. I knew this was going to end badly and I didn't want to get involved in that situation, so I sped up and drove away. Then I got paranoid that I'd seen something I shouldn't have, so I got rid of my clothes and the knife ."

Sangare had confessed to the crime, when the prosecutor pointed it out to him he replied that "the carabinieri told me" .

Sharon's murder was without any motive. Sangare himself, confessing (he didn't know the victim), said he "didn't know" why he had done it.

The alleged murderer, caught on camera as he was passing by the area at the time of the crime, told the prosecutor that none of them showed him hitting the victim: "I think it was someone from Terno who knew how to avoid the cameras. I only confessed because I was stressed and thought that would get me released," he said.

Regarding the traces of Sharon's DNA mixed with his, found on the bicycle he had used that evening, he replied: "This is the only thing I can't explain."

His lawyer, Giacomo Mai, spoke to reporters: "My client hasn't said anything different from what he's already said in the last two hearings: he essentially claims to have been a witness to the event. He's been saying in court what he's been saying for a few months."

Sharon Verzeni's father is deeply affected by what happened in court : "Even though he had every opportunity, he refused to apologize, preferring instead to say he wasn't guilty. This deeply saddens us: we simply want justice to be served because we've seen that he has no remorse, and this hurts us deeply."

"I continue to talk to my daughter to feel her close," said Sharon Verzeni's mother, Maria Teresa Previtali. Speaking in court, she said she continues to listen to her daughter's voicemails and watch videos. Then came the heartbreaking memory of the last time she saw her: the day before leaving for vacation in Sardinia, they had breakfast together at the bar where she worked. "Sharon never saw evil; for her, everything was beautiful, everything was cheerful, and she was even very romantic. She is sorely missed: there's a void, as if a piece of her were missing ," she added in court.
