President Sergio Mattarella reportedly informed Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano, whom he met today at the Quirinale, that the green light for the measures on police detention and the criminal shield could be granted, but only with some modifications still to be made.

The Quirinale Palace is keeping quiet, but parliamentary sources have learned that Mantovano is now reporting to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the President's remarks , which are essentially the same as those made in recent days. Specifically, regarding the criminal shield for officers, the need to avoid creating separate case law for each category remains firm . Regarding preventive police detention, it is noted that mere suspicious behavior is not enough to warrant it.

"We've done a very reasonable and balanced job. Otherwise, we'll take note of the findings," Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi commented.

The dialogue with the Quirinale, government sources explain, has been "excellent as always." According to reports, several technical meetings are currently underway to finalize the texts for tomorrow's Council of Ministers meeting. The same sources report that the meeting will see the adoption of the security decree, which will contain both provisions (preventive detention and the "shield"), likely revised in light of the Quirinale's comments .
