There are several Italian cities – Cagliari, Rome, Milan, Bologna, Naples and others – where on Tuesday 27 May, at 3:30 pm, a national flashmob will be held, promoted by a spontaneous coordination of teachers and ATA staff.
The initiative - the organizers explain in a press release - has the aim of "bringing public and political attention back to the working conditions in state schools, increasingly characterized by widespread precariousness, inadequate salaries and lack of professional recognition".
The aim of the participants is to give voice to "a widespread malaise in the world of school, through coordinated actions on a national scale and the delivery of a document of shared requests to significant institutional offices".
The flashmob is part of a "wider national non-partisan mobilization , born from below, which demands the right to a salary worthy of a European nation, stable working conditions and respect for the educational and administrative function carried out every day by thousands of professionals in the school system".
In Rome, the protest will be held in Piazza Montecitorio . At the end of the flashmob, a document containing the requests of teachers and auxiliary school staff drawn up by the organizers of the initiative will be delivered to the secretary of the Parliamentary Commission for Culture, Science and Education.
