He engraves his name and that of his fiancée by scarring a World Heritage monument. A message of love on the Colosseum, one of the most iconic buildings in the world, which could cost a young tourist dearly.

The boy risks a fine of at least 15,000 euros and up to 5 years in prison.

The young man was immortalized by a video posted on social media: the boy, filmed from the back, with the keys engraves the names "Ivan" and "Hailey" on a brick wall inside the Colosseum together with the year "23" When the author of the video points out to him, in English, the seriousness of the gesture, the nonchalant boy turns around and smiles, while his fiancée stands motionless to witness the disfigurement.

According to reports, the author of the video would have subsequently warned the staff working inside the Amphitheater, who would have - according to his words - underestimated the episode, only to then report the incident to the police who operate in the Colosseum area. The carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit and the Superintendency are dealing with the episode, the author of the scar is clearly visible in the video.

«I consider it very serious, unworthy and a sign of great incivility - the comment of the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano -, that a tourist defaces one of the most famous places in the world, a historical heritage such as the Colosseum, to engrave the name of his girlfriend. I hope that whoever did this at the Flavian Amphitheater will be identified and sanctioned according to our laws.
