The extradition process of Nazia Shaheen, the mother of Saman Abbas, the young woman of Pakistani origin killed by her family in 2021 in Novellara (Reggio Emilia), has been completed.
The woman was arrested on May 31 in Pakistan, where she had fled after the crime.
Around 2:40 PM today, the plane that brought her back to Italy landed at Fiumicino. The woman was escorted by personnel from the Service for International Police Cooperation of the Central Directorate of Criminal Police.
Last December, Shaheen was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Court of Assizes of Reggio Emilia. After the formal procedures, the doors of the Roman prison of Rebibbia will open for her, awaiting final transfer to a penitentiary in Emilia, where she will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
In addition to the mother, the young girl's father (Shabbar Abbas, life imprisonment) and her uncle Danish Hasnain (14 years) were also sentenced for Saman's murder.
