A 45-year-old worker was seriously injured today in Cicerale, in the province of Salerno, following an explosion inside a paint factory.

The man suffered burns to approximately 60% of his body and was immediately rescued and transported with critical condition to the Ruggi hospital in Salerno.

The air ambulance crew intubated him before transferring him. The accident occurred in the Cicerale industrial area. The violent explosion struck the worker while he was in an area of the factory containing highly flammable substances.

The 118 paramedics intervened on site and activated the air ambulance, as did the Carabinieri of the Vallo della Lucania company, who are investigating to reconstruct the dynamics of the events and ascertain the causes of the explosion.

Law enforcement has secured the area of the accident, which did not involve other people.
