Great fear in Rome , where in the late morning 12 people were injured by the collapse of the staircase at the Globe Theater .

These are 5 adults and 7 children , transported to the Bambino Gesù pediatric hospital, the Gemelli hospital, San Giovanni, Pertini and the Umberto I hospital.

According to what is learned on the spot, 7 self-medications and an ambulance intervened .

"It seems that the sealing plates of the ramp have been released : it is a serious fact, we are very sorry for the children involved and we need to ascertain the responsibilities", the words of the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri , who specified that the injured are not serious .

"Now the Globe will be declared uninhabitable and we do not know how long it will remain closed," added the mayor. "The firefighters are doing the findings and then there will be an investigation by the judiciary."

The collapse of the structure occurred at the end of a show for the schools. "We were going down to go out, the stairs collapsed while some of us were walking along them and fell. It all happened in a few moments", the rescuers told by some students of a Roman high school.

THE STRUCTURE - Inaugurated in the summer of 2003, the Globe Theater, in the heart of Villa Borghese , was born from an intuition and desire of Gigi Proietti , who wanted, guided and also "defended" it to the end. So much so that today the theater also bears his name, next to that of the entrepreneur Silvano Toti, whose sons donated its construction to the city. A small "miracle" built up in just over three months, at the time of Mayor Walter Veltroni and on the occasion of the restyling for the 100th anniversary of Villa Borghese, on the model of the original Globe, that of Elizabethan London where William Shakespeare scene his lyrics with the company Lord Chamberlain's Men, then destroyed by fire in 1613.

Circular plan, open sky, made entirely of solid French oak from the Ardennes, the Roman Globe has a capacity of 1,206 seats between the stalls and the three orders of balconies, divided into boxes.

Opened for the first time in the white night of 2003 , with a very long line (there were 5 thousand admissions) to admire that little masterpiece and peek a few minutes of the rehearsal of Proietti's Romeo and Juliet that would have officially inaugurated it on the following 14 October , in these 19 years old it has become "the" summer stage in Rome , especially for young people, lining up every evening even in August.
