"I was supposed to be the one enforcing the law, but I made a mistake. I apologize to all those who wear the uniform: I betrayed their trust." This is the mea culpa, entrusted to his lawyer Piero Porciani, of Carmelo Cinturrino , the assistant police chief arrested for the murder of Abderrahim Mansouri in Rogoredo .
The arrested officer's words were reported by the lawyer upon entering the San Vittore prison for Cinturrino's questioning before the investigating judge for the validation of the arrest.
Attorney Porciani explained that his client is "sad, sorry for what he did," and added that both he and his mother "went to church to pray," also for the victim . The defense attorney also reiterated that Cinturrino "shot because he was afraid," adding that the chief assistant "never took a cent from anyone."
Regarding the staging of the gun, lawyer Porciani explained that "it had been in that backpack for some time and that his colleague," when he received the order to go and get it from the police station, "could not have been unaware."
"I agree with Cinturrino's dismissal, but a criminal isn't someone who makes mistakes, he's someone who commits crimes. And those who make mistakes pay," he concluded, referring to the words of Police Chief Prefect Vittorio Pisani.
