The cases of Covid-19 in Italy "will increase dramatically driven by two variants at the same time, Delta and Omicron, and this will generate tremendous pressure on health systems". The scientific advisor to the Minister of Health, Walter Ricciardi, is convinced of this, speaking during the program 'Controcorrente' on Rete 4.
"The virus worries me because, unlike what happens in other countries, it is circulating in two variants: the Delta, which is contagious and much more clinically serious, and Omicron, which is much more contagious and spreads with great speed ", his words." So - he added - it is necessary to anticipate the virus and certainly the measures that have been implemented do not anticipate the virus ".
Ricciardi shares the concerns about the reopening of the schools ("The situation at the moment is not such as to allow the reopening in peace") and the doubts about the penalties for those over 50 who do not comply with the vaccination obligation ("They are not serious, they should be higher , thus they do not exercise the deterrent action ").
And here he mentions Austria, where "we start from a base of 600 euros and if the person does not resolve their situation we get to 3,600 euros, the penalty must not be a one-off but must be repeated until it is remedied. own condition ". In Greece, however, the penalty is 100 euros per month until the subject is vaccinated: “These are two examples to follow”.
