There are also the mayor of Reggio Calabria, Giuseppe Falcomatà , of the Democratic Party, and the group leader of the Brothers of Italy in the regional council, Giuseppe Neri , among those under investigation in the "Ducale" operation investigation which this morning led to the execution of 14 precautionary measures.
Among those under investigation is also the municipal councilor of Reggio Calabria Francesco Sera, of the Democratic Party. The hypothesis of crime against Falcomatà, Neri and Sera is a political-mafia electoral exchange.
For Neri and Sera, the DDA of Reggio had requested the arrest, but the investigating judge did not accept the request. No request, however, had been made for Falcomatà.
The investigation was conducted by the Public Prosecutor of Reggio Calabria, Giovanni Bombardieri, by the deputies Stefano Musolino and Walter Ignazitto and by the deputy prosecutor Salvatore Rossello.
The investigation revealed that one of those arrested for whom house arrest was ordered, Daniel Barillà, son-in-law of Domenico Araniti, indicated as the top exponent of the gang of the same name, would have altered the voting operations in the 2020 electoral rounds , when voted for the regional and municipal elections of Reggio, and of 2021, the year in which the regional consultations were repeated after the premature death of president Jole Santelli. In particular, Barillà would have obtained the ballot papers of citizens unable to go to the polling station and, with the complicity of compliant scrutineers, would have had them cast their votes for Giuseppe Neri and Giuseppe Sera.
A "favor" which, according to the DDA, would have allowed Barillà to obtain appointments in public bodies as external professionals from Neri and Sera.
