The Rome Military Prosecutor's Office, led by Marco De Paolis, has initiated "preliminary investigations" into a complaint filed by the Military Union against General Roberto Vanacci, president of Futuro Nazionale, national coordinator Massimiliano Simoni, and program director Lorenzo Gasperini. The complaint alleges the reconstitution of the fascist party in violation of the Scelba law.

The Prosecutor's Office's activity "relates to the position of members of the Armed Forces," the prosecutor explains in a statement, "within the 'Futuro Nazionale' organizational structure. The prosecutors' objective is to verify "the possible existence of facts within their strict jurisdiction in relation to persons subject to military jurisdiction."

Meanwhile, a cloud of tension over relations with Russia has gathered over the movement and its leader in recent hours. The former general has served as military attaché at the Italian Embassy in Moscow since 2021 and, over the years, has expressed critical views on military support for Ukraine, sanctions against Moscow, and European rearmament.
