According to reports, the three options that Rai has submitted to Ranucci for leaving the hosting of Report are a position at Rainews, or at Tg3, or a correspondent's office.

Reaction to the statement was immediate. "RAI's decision condemns the victim of an attack, Report, and the independence of public information. Sigfrido Ranucci, for now, will not host Report but will lead the most important battle to defend the freedom of investigative journalism, in every forum," said the journalist's lawyer , Roberto De Vita.

"The decision made by RAI is completely unacceptable to us. It is unacceptable both in terms of its methodology, since the company has refused any dialogue with the team in recent weeks, informing us of its choice through agencies, and in terms of its substance, since the figures chosen are in no way representative of the history and values of Report," the program's correspondents wrote in a statement regarding the assignment of the program's hosting duties to Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi, announcing their intention to resign en masse.
