A cream doughnut as the murder weapon . This is the theory at the center of an investigation by the Reggio Emilia Carabinieri, which has led to a 76-year-old man being placed under house arrest: the man allegedly premeditatedly murdered his disabled cousin over an inheritance. Specifically, he allegedly gave some sweets to the 74-year-old relative, whose legal guardian he was, despite knowing that he suffered from severe dysphagia and could only eat liquids.

The victim died on June 27 from suffocation in the residential social-health facility where she was being housed . The warrant, requested by the Prosecutor's Office and issued by the investigating judge, was executed late yesterday evening.
