Only one conviction - 5 years and 3 months - against Marco Albanesi, former head of the Brescia unit of RFI, and eight acquittals, including that of the former CEO of RFI Maurizio Gentile and of the company itself.
The trial of former managers, employees and technicians of Rete ferrovia italiana for the train disaster in Pioltello, on the outskirts of Milan, on 25 January 2018 , in which three women died in a train derailment and over 200 people were injured or suffered psychological trauma , has thus ended in the first instance . This was decided by the fifth criminal section of the Court of Milan.
As for the acquitted defendants, the charges of negligent train disaster and manslaughter were dropped "for not having committed the act". Some hypotheses on the injuries were dropped for lack of complaint.
