"At present, 36 people have been identified , and there is evidence of their belonging to groups that have repeatedly been known for acts of gratuitous hooliganism and unprovoked violence, disguised as participation in demonstrations purportedly inspired by political or social issues. Many of them are affiliated with the Askatasuna social center, which has become a serious problem for the city of Turin."

Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi stated this in an interview with the newspaper, speaking about the attack on the Turin editorial office of La Stampa.

Some claim that the action was solely attributable to pro-Pal activists and stemmed from his decision to expel Imam Shahin. Are you still convinced? "It seems to me the usual vain search for an idealistic motive," he adds, "whatever it may be, to conceal the true intent expressed on the occasion, which was exclusively hooliganism." The bishop of Pinerolo and president of the CEI Commission for Ecumenism, Monsignor Derio Olivero, portrays him as a man of dialogue and asks the minister to step back: "I don't know what dialogue means," Piantedosi continues, "but the apologia for the October 7 massacre and the other statements of the Imam of Turin do not seem to me to reflect the characteristics of a man of peace. The detention for repatriation has currently been confirmed by the judicial authorities, who evidently considered the reasons for the measure adopted to be well-founded, also citing several facts, including proven connections with people considered dangerous."

What happened, Piantedosi continues, "is a very serious and unacceptable act that undoubtedly reflects the true danger these individuals pose. In Turin, in particular, there is a hotbed of violence and disorder represented by the Askatasuna social center. I believe the time is over for condescending and ambiguous behavior toward these squadristi. These squadristi must be isolated."
