The Rome Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a new investigation into the murder of Pier Paolo Pasolini , killed in Ostia on the night between November 1st and 2nd, 1975. The proceedings, entrusted to deputy prosecutor Silvia Santucci, were opened in light of a complaint filed in Piazzale Clodio in recent weeks by lawyer Stefano Maccioni, who previously represented one of the victim's cousins, Guido Mazzon, and is now a lawyer for the Lazio Order of Journalists, director David Grieco, and writer Giovanni Giovannetti.
"The new application, filed in November 2025 and subsequently supplemented in May 2026," Maccioni explains, "is based on new evidence gathered by this defense. We trust that the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office will finally be able to provide the answers we have been seeking for too many years. At the same time, we invite all those who have thus far preferred to remain silent about their knowledge to come forward and speak out."
Maccioni "does not hide his emotion and satisfaction at the decision taken by the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office to conduct new investigations into Pasolini's murder."
In 2016 and 2023, there were requests to reopen the investigations, but both were rejected by the Prosecutor's Office.
