Palermo, man stabbed to death after a dispute with neighbors: another person barricaded himself in his home.

A 53-year-old man was stabbed to death in a building on Via Sampolo in Palermo , apparently after an argument that arose over trivial matters.

The victim is Francesco Spataro, a Palermo native, who lived in an apartment at number 486 with two roommates. One of them was out shopping at the time of the attack, while the other remained barricaded inside. Firefighters responded to the scene and discovered a gas leak on the second floor of the building. For safety reasons, the building was evacuated.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Carabinieri. Meanwhile, Via Sampolo has been closed to traffic and the bomb squad has also responded to the scene.
