Heavy inconvenience in Palermo due to a strong sirocco wind that lashed the Sicilian capital with gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

A dilapidated building has partially collapsed in via Ximenes, in the Borgo Vecchio district. Firefighters are digging to see if there are people, although at the moment they seem to rule out this hypothesis. According to the first findings, the floor on the first floor collapsed, involving a warehouse.

Three trees collapsed on the Palermo-Catania motorway, one of which ended up in the lane of the A19 junction, between the Palermo Giafar and Villabate junction, towards Catania.

In the evening, some fences to protect a construction site at Palermo's Falcone Borsellino airport, between gates 1 and 8, also collapsed. The airport emergency plan was triggered and all the passengers inside were evacuated, such as Gesap, the airport's ground services management company, announced, underlining that there were no injuries. The strong wind had already caused six flights arriving in Palermo to be diverted to Catania airport.

The airport then returned to operation during the night.
