A runner died after being hit by a car in the Reggio area. The accident took place this morning at 7.30 in Zurco, a hamlet in the municipality of Cadelbosco Sopra.

The victim, a 56-year-old resident of Reggio Emilia, was running on via Cristoforo Colombo when he was hit, at the intersection with via Viazza, by a Mercedes CLK driven by a 45-year-old resident in the province of Pavia.

The runner was thrown for several meters and died instantly as a result of the serious injuries sustained.

The car ended up off the road in a small ditch, with the driver suffering moderate injuries.
