Via degli Apuli is a suburban street in the Giambellino district of Milan, a street with large blocks of public housing. Difficult area, with illegal activity and drug dealing, complicated cohabitation between North Africans and Roma. It is here, in the entrance hall on the ground floor of one of these blocks, at number 4 staircase H, in front of the door of one of the apartments, that a one-month-old baby was abandoned this afternoon.

Dressed in clean clothes and a pink cap, he had a message written in Arabic on a white sheet of paper nearby. Gamal Ghobrial, a 55-year-old Egyptian who has been living in the apartment for a year, found the little boy in front of him when he opened the door. She didn't expect it because the baby didn't make any noise, didn't cry and didn't cry afterward either. The man immediately raised the alarm and was the first to roughly translate the Arabic writing on the paper: "Mum died in childbirth, I can't take care of him." A message from the father who may live in the area. “I live nearby but you don't know me,” he added.

In the building, cross accusations began between neighbors. Some residents, who came down from the first floor, indicated a young tenant as the mother. From the first checks by the police, however, this did not appear to be the case. Emergency services arrived on site with an ambulance and a medical vehicle. The child, apparently in good health, was wrapped in a blanket and taken "in stable condition" to the emergency room of the De Marchi pediatric clinic, where the doctors are carrying out all the tests.

From the Policlinico hospital, of which De Marchi is a part, a report was made to the prosecutor as always in cases of abandoned children and the legal protection of the child was entrusted to the Juvenile Court. Now the police are listening to all the witnesses and trying to understand if anyone was seen arriving with the stroller. Camera footage is being verified.

However, the entrance hall of a public building is certainly less monitored than the hospital in Aprilia (Latina) where less than a week ago a woman was caught on camera while she abandoned a six-month-old baby in a stroller in the emergency room. Since 2012, this is the fourth child left by his parents to arrive at the hospital, but the first abandoned elsewhere. In the first three cases, the last being Aeneas on Easter Sunday last year, they were children left in the cradle of life.
