On July 5, 1966, in the office of a Roman notary, a small group of pioneers led by Fulco Pratesi officially established WWF Italy. "Since then," a statement explains, "six decades of uninterrupted work for nature conservation have passed, a journey that has profoundly transformed the relationship between Italian society and our country's natural heritage."
The organization has received numerous accolades during this important milestone in its history. These include President Sergio Mattarella , who received a delegation led by President Luciano Di Tizio at the Quirinale Palace.
Pope Leo XIV also sent his Apostolic Blessing "from the heart", encouraging "to continue the work of solidarity and awareness in the care of creation".
