The prosecutor had asked for a sentence of 14 years and four months in prison , in the belief that he had killed him - Salvatore Spina - the elderly woman who assisted as a caregiver, Diva Borin .

At the trial with an abbreviated rite, however, the judge acquitted him "for not committing the deed" .

The story began on March 1, 2019, when the woman was found lifeless in her home, in Brescia , in the Urago Mella district.

The investigators' suspicions turned to Spina, who according to the prosecutor had suffocated the old woman after the latter had communicated her willingness to hire another caregiver.

A reconstruction that, however, did not convince the judge, who found the accused not guilty.

The reasons for the sentence are now awaited.
