Official: October 4th is the National Day of Saint Francis

The measure restoring the national holiday of Saint Francis of Assisi to October 4th is now law.

The Senate Constitutional Affairs Committee has approved the bill previously approved by the Chamber of Deputies.

Speaking to reporters, Commission President Alberto Balboni emphasized the "symbolic value" of a definitive yes vote before October 4, even though the law will first come into force in 2026, as it has yet to be published in the Official Journal.
