Fuel prices are once again at risk starting today. The 4.9 cent per liter excise tax cut (including VAT) established by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF)-Mase decree of October 28, which provided for "a reduction of €632.90 per thousand liters" until November 7, has expired and has not been renewed. The Official Journal does not mention any extension.

Starting today, excise duties, including VAT, will increase by 4.88 euro cents per liter, equivalent to an additional 2.44 euros on a 50-liter tank, according to Adusbef (Association for the Defense of Banking and Financial Services Users).

The halt to the discount, however, "comes at a time when oil prices are depreciating," with Brent "having fallen by 16.2% in just a few days, which opens the door to a possible reduction in prices at the pump."
